Coco Republic and L’Americano go north

Recently, after a little nip and tuck, one of Australia’s leading contemporary interior design brands debuted their new face and a new sidekick. Coco Republic has launched a revamped store in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley with the addition of L’Americano – a decidedly different dining experience.

L’Americano

The design inspiration for L’Americano intrigues. The muse is the upper crust Marge Sherwood – Gwyneth Paltrow’s character in the film version of Patricia Highsmith’s acclaimed novel The Talented Mr Ripley. She’s effortlessly chic and carefree (who wouldn’t be with that trust fund) spending her days and nights on the Amalfi Coast.

Like Marge, L’Americano is casual glamour with good bones. There’s a feature wall of collectable mahogany yachts with touches of marble, timber and a little gold leafing for good measure. The streamlined Faema Legend E61 takes pride of place dispensing espresso all day long.

The menu? Casual, modern and delicious. Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch are served all day. Get the day rolling with organic egg dishes, a granola bowl, prosciutto and avocado toast, while more eggs or a selection of antipasti expand the choices. Lunch includes crostini, tramezzini, focaccia, piadina and serious salads. The light-filled space is already proving a firm favourite in the River City and come summer it will be ground zero for the Aperol Spritz lovers.

At the launch, Anthony Spon Smith, Coco Republic Executive Director welcomed Brisbane’s smartest guests at a glittering evening of champagne and fine food. He also introduced the new Outdoor collection that combines Scandinavian, Italian and a certain California coastline element with craftsmanship suitable for the Australian climate.
