Friday night: 11pm. So far it’s been a big night with after work drinks and dinner and more and the idea of winding the party down and going home isn’t really working for you. You don’t have to. You can still book a hotel tonight, quickly on your phone at an unbeatable rate.
HotelTonight is the new player in the hotel-booking scene and it’s shaking things up with a totally new business model. Only available on mobile just like that other San-Francisco start-up, Uber, HotelTonight is sort of a matchmaking service between the hotels and guests looking for a spontaneous getaway. Only available on iOS as well as Android devices, the app has hit Australia with some of the best, exclusive accommodation deals for tonight and anytime in the next week.
Since launch the app has been downloaded over 14 million times and is designed so you can book in 10-seconds with just 3 taps and a swipe. There are over 15,000 handpicked hotels in hundreds of cities worldwide. Properties available constantly change as hotels offered each day compete to get a spot in each city.
Hotels are classified as basic, solid, hip or luxe. For example in Australia, Melbourne’s hip Lyall Hotel might be featured that day or in New York it might be the luxe Gramercy Park Hotel (TML recommended).
HotelTonight’s Asia Pacific Director, Stefan Cordiner said, “Travel loving Australians are really embracing our brand of spontaneity”. We’re delighted to be extending the range and choice of our deals so we can serve customers with great value hotel rooms across the country and give them even more reasons to indulge their wanderlust”.
HotelTonight’s policy is to make sure you can find a room any night of the year, with the company pre-booking around big events to ensure everyone finds a room.
The GeoRates tool means even bigger discounts on the already discounted rate as the day moves on. A Rate Track feature alerts users with phone notifications when prices in the area have dropped.
This week, TML was one of the chosen few to view the luxurious, soon-to-be-finished Spontaneity Suite that will tour the country touching down last minute at some of Australia’s most breathtaking locations. With ultra glam interiors by Coco Republic and some knockout features (think roof-top Jacuzzi) to take advantage of some of the country’s most spectacular views, this is one pop-up that will be getting lots of attention.
Only available by booking through the HotelTonight app, the luxury suite is valued between $20,000 and $50,000 per night depending on location. This month the pop-up is heading to a secret location in the award-winning Yarra Valley wine district. On August 22 six lucky bookers will have the chance to spend 1-night in the Spontaneity Suite when the price drops from $32,000 to $99 for 5 nights only between August 28 – September 1.
As an initiative to benefit Australian charity OZ Harvest those that miss out on a $99 stay, can try their luck booking the last night on September 2 when the price will drop by $1,000 from $32,000 every 10 minutes until it’s bought!
Hotel Tonight’s mantra is ‘plan less, live more’. Now that sounds like a plan.
