A wild night at Taronga

One of the most unique music venues currently in Sydney is just an 11  minute ferry trip from Circular Quay. Taronga Zoo hosts the ‘Twilight at Taronga’ concert series under the stars, and 2015 is the 20th anniversary of the event. Hosting iconic Australian artistes such as Mental as Anything, Ross Wilson , Sarah Blasko and Paul Kelly, the series is extremely popular, and with a capacity of just 2,000, shows are often sold out.

The new look Greedy

Arriving by ferry at the Taronga wharf (included in the ticket price) you are bussed up to the main entrance at the top of the Zoo, and from there stroll past the animal compounds to the stage area, which boasts an impressive 180 degree view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House at sunset.

The intimate concerts are on rain or shine. As for dining, there is a wide range of food available from booths at the venue. You can BYO picnic, but Giovanni Pilu has put together Italian-style, two-person picnic baskets that you can pre-order. They’re $89, there’s one for meat eaters and one for vegetarians, and they come with a bottle of wine. (Alcohol is also available at the bars).
