Creating the perfect event be it a special dinner, awards evening or wedding is little like the Holy Grail. Does it exist and if it does how do you get that magical blend of food, wine and style that makes you the most talked about host in town. Do you DIY or call in the experts?
Cuisine on Cue partnered recently with QUT Precincts and The Styled Group to showcase how you get that perfect balance. The Gardens Theatre was transformed into a spectacular candlelit Enchanted Garden.
The Garden centrepiece was like a very upmarket Avatar Tree of Souls. Adorned with golden chandeliers casting a subtle purple glow over the tables dressed with elements of the forest, the setting was magical. Paris Nikki and Matt Made provided marvellous musical moments in the Enchanted Garden.
Providing a little extra entertainment chefs manned (and womanned) a pop-up food station to start. The delicious smoky starter of chermoula marinated prawns with turmeric, chilli and micro purple basil cauliflower was crowned with toasty flaked almonds.
Sharing plates for mains not only encourages conversation but allows diners to sample a wider range of culinary treats. Yellowtail Kingfish on a bed of soba noodle worked well against a hearty sarsaparilla beef cheek with roasted beets and grilled fennel. The warm and tasty confit duck terrine with spice rum raisins and cress was dusted with the ingredient of the moment – pollen.
Accompanying the delectable proteins were sides of mouth-watering dauphinoise of potato and celeriac topped with feta and grana padano and an heirloom tomato salad with goats curd, kale crisps and a touch of leatherwood honey.
A perfect way to finish? Dessert gift bags with a dense and delightful chocolate marquise that transported very well with a choc chip base, pistachio crust and caramelised popcorn.
This event showcased not only how versatile Cuisine on Cue’s menus can be but spotlighted how a dinner when styled perfectly makes a wonderful evening even that bit more magnificent. Bravo the Styled Group, QUT Precincts, The Rush Group and Cuisine on Cue for an event that was the epitome of elegance and style.
