The Byron Bay Fine Food & Beverage Festival. Never heard of anything that makes more sense. Byron’s inaugural gourmet food and tipple fest is on June 3 and it looks like a gastronomic spectacular at one of Australia’s chicest destinations – Elements of Byron.
With six wildly successful Sample Food Fest’s under her belt, local food legend Remy Tancred has put together a program of tantalising tastes and experiences. Running from 11am to 7pm on Saturday, there is a stellar line up of wineries, brewers, distillers, artisan producers and chefs dishing up some of Australia’s best including Producer and Beverage Masterclasses.
You can learn how to churn butter with Pepe Saya, find out about the infinite variety of salt with Olsson Salts as well as witness the Great South Australian Taste Off: Barossa vs Coonawarra – Schild Estate & Raidis Estate. Boutique brands Husk Distillers, Alto Olive Oil, Mount Zero Olives will join local chefs merely a stone’s throw from the beach.
Local chefs including Steven Snow from Fins Restaurant, Paper Daisy’s Ben Devlin and Bret Cameron from Harvest Newrybar will create signature plates just for the festival.
But if you want to escape wintry Sydney and Melbourne for the entire weekend you can do it in style with the Byron Bay Fine Food & Beverage Festival VIP Food Lovers’ Weekend. It all starts on Friday night with the ‘Mixed Dozen’ Gala Dinner and before the festival on Saturday morning there’s an exclusive guided tour of the Bangalow Farmers’ Market with Tawnya Bahr. Throw in 2 nights at Australasia’s Leading New Hotel 2016* Elements of Byron and it makes for a very memorable weekend.
Neil Perry and eleven of the region’s finest chefs including Three Blue Duck’s Darren Robertson and Mark Labrooy and Sean Connelly from Balcony Bar and Oyster Co. will be behind the stoves for a six-course dinner matched with the best drops from twelve Australian wineries.
