There have been a few ‘Royal’ announcements lately. A new, American Duchess and a new Prince or Princess is on the way. And, Sea Princess is the latest Princess Cruises’ royal lady to call Australia home.
After having a ‘little work done’ Sea Princess sailed into Brisbane this week to start the summer season. The refurbishment includes luxurious new bedding, the addition of Camp Discovery for kids and makeovers for the Wheelhouse and Crooners Bars.
Princess Cruises have long promised you’ll come back new and the Princess Luxury Bed is their latest guarantee. The next word in beds was developed with sleep expert Dr Michael Breus and one of the best interior designers in the business Candice Olson.
Although we didn’t get to fully road test the Princess Luxury Bed with a sleep-in, it sure did feel mighty comfy. And there’s a pillow menu.
The kids are also well taken care of with three reimagined youth centres in partnership with the Discovery Channel. Designed for 3-7’s, The Lodge for ages 8-12 and for the teens, the Beach House. Camp Discovery has destination themed activities and educational programs.
Entertainment options for adults now include The Voice of the Ocean and the acclaimed musical Encore will make its debut at the Princess Theatre. Movies under the Stars will also be bigger and brighter with a grand new screen.
Colourful new cocktails will be a winner at the Wheelhouse and Crooners’ Bars. The La Paloma is a stunner – tall, pretty and she packs a punch with both Elderflower liqueur and top-notch tequila. The mark of a good bar is how well they do the classics and the Cucumber G&T is the perfect answer to a steamy Pacific afternoon. Princess Cruises bars, restaurants and dining rooms all offer something delicious and Sea Princess is no exception.
The popular Pizzeria is now Osteria Corniche. You can opt for a fine Negroni Sbagliato to accompany the appetizers – a made for sharing Cheesemonger and Charcuterie Board or a Langoustine tail cocktail with just the right zest of lemongrass. It’s the pizzas that are the stars of the show with a yummy bacon wrapped prawn and a delectable Prosciutto, Pear, Gorgonzola & Spinach number. Make room for the ideal coffee hit – Espresso Crème Brulee.
Over the summer Sea Princess will travel to New Zealand from the River City. These cruises will take in the spectacular Fiordland National Park. A number of shorter Queensland cruises and Sydney jaunts are also on the calendar before the season ends and Sea Princess heads off round the world. www.princess.com
