There’s a new kid in town and she’s arrived with a splash. The brand spanking new and colourful Ibis Styles Elizabeth Street is the latest player in Brisbane’s CBD hotel wars. With 368 rooms it’s also the largest Ibis branded hotel in Australia.
In the heart of Brisbane’s CBD with Instagram worthy views over the River, South Bank and the City, Ibis Styles Elizabeth Street has been built on the footprint on Brisbane’s Royal Caledonian Society and Burns Club. The historic club’s mission was to foster Scottish culture and fraternity and dates back to 1892. Today, once inside 40 Elizabeth Street, you immediately know you’re in the 21st century.
From the moment you enter the Lobby your attention is grabbed by the wall-to-wall colour. No subtle variations of beige here. Think less rainbow and more kaleidoscope. The design may be aimed at Millennials but the location and price will attract all ages.
Location
The new Ibis Styles Elizabeth Street is positioned perfectly for a weekend of shopping, movies, seeing an exhibition at GOMA or sipping cocktails in one of the CBD’s hottest bars. With the Myer Centre right next-door all of Brisbane’s best shopping is only 3 minutes away with Zara, H & M and Uniqlo now all headquartered in Queen Street Mall.
Rooms
It’s the view over Southbank that hits you first. By day, the abundance of natural light makes work so much easier. Although dynamic by day it becomes something all together different at night.
Ibis Styles signature Sweet Beds are front and centre; king sized and as comfy as most 5 star hotel beds. The rooms while not extra spacious, tick all the boxes with contemporary styled bathrooms to boot.
At the time of writing, the large Samsung Smart TV’s were yet to be integrated with Samsung phones for streamlined connectivity. More importantly, the fast Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. There is also a guest laundry as well as a meeting space with an outdoor terrace.
Dining
A delicious and substantial Buffet continental breakfast at The Social is included. There’s yummy Bircher Muesli with plenty of fruit, nuts and more to add. There are European breakfast options as well as cereals and fresh fruit. With coffee and pastries or gluten free and other breads for toasting, you’re spoilt for choice. There is an all-day menu if you are staying in.
Ibis Styles Elizabeth Street’s location and all-inclusive price tag make it the best value in the CBD. It well could be Brisbane’s smartest address for a lazy or busy weekend. http://www.ibis.com/gb/hotel-8835-ibis-styles-brisbane-elizabeth-street
