Pardon the indulgence. We’re celebrating. It’s not every day you reach a milestone. This Magnificent Life is 10 years old.
On June 19, 2009, we launched This Magnificent Life with a bang at Luxury Interactive New York. However, TML was never simply about luxury. Sometimes luxury is indeed magnificent and sometimes not so much. Ostentation is never magnificent but authenticity always will be.
We’ve always sought out the magnificent, from a breathtaking views to a delicious glass of wine. We’ve shared with you our readers some magnificent moments in Australia, Europe, Asia and the US.
Ten years is a long time in any language. With sixty-nine web 1.0 editions to over five years in WordPress. Over that time there have been hundreds of stories, dozens of interviews, countless words and pictures. 5-star hotels, delectable degustations and a glass or two of outstanding wine.
In our first issue, we wrote our first and only editorial: “We have four words we like to apply to true luxury brands: Heritage, Craftsmanship, Rarity and Integrity. Applying them to ourselves, we know it will take a long while to establish the First. The Second we work on every day. The Third, well, we certainly will offer exclusivity, but perhaps more ‘medium-rare’ in terms of readership. On the Fourth, you have our word”.
Thanks to the writers, photographers, P.R’s, chefs, G.M’s, restaurateurs, winemakers, brands big and small and everyone else who made it happen. And a special thank you to our readers from across the world.
And to paraphrase John Lennon, “… I hope we passed the audition”.
